Duck, Death, Resin, Print.

The original sculpture from this project was made in 2013 after finishing my illustration degree, it is based on the main character from Wolf Erlbruch’s childrens book Duck Death Tulip. For a while it has been an ambition of mine to learn how to make resin casts of my work so that i can make duplicates of my artwork. I decided this sculpture would be great to use as a starting point as it was made purely from clay and could be reproduced relatively easily.

Once i had a mold and pulled a successful casting from it, i thought i would do a small run of the character to sell in my shop. After sharing the idea with talented lino cut artist Amie Bell we turned this into a joint collaboration project. Amie has created a limited edition print based on her interpretation of the theme’s from the book. Both our piece’s of work come in bespoke packaging and we will be doing a run of 10 With 5 of these pieces being a variant option of the original sculpture.

This was a great project to work on and we have since made plans to collaborate again and make a mini series of similar work using our own original characters.
